Welcome to Marylebone Dance Studio at 12 Lisson Grove. As you see, we’re on the ground floor, with one step up from the pavement.
Come on in! There’s no reception or enquiries and the building is unstaffed. Here’s the entrance lobby, with small office on your left and corridor ahead, with changing rooms/WCs off the left, leading to the studio and waiting area.
The men’s changing room, with WC, shower, basin, mirror and a bench with hooks to hang clothing. Next door, the women’s is similar but slightly larger.
The waiting area, with a glimpse through to the studio itself.
The IDMN Centre, a small meeting room next to the studio, available for hire as a production office, suitable for interviews, meetings of up to 4 people, as a quiet room, for costume fittings or client meetings. It’s small, airy, light and private, with meeting table, 4 chairs, shelves, fax, e-mac computer and printer. WiFi broadband is available by arrangement. Discounted hire rates apply for members of Independent Dance Management Network. Click here to book the IDMN Centre.
The studio. You’re looking at the main area 22’ (6.7m) by 30’ (9.14m) from the L-shaped extra part 12’ x 12’ (3.6m). Those left hand double-doors lead into a rear storage room, and the right hand double-doors lead out onto the fire-escape (handy for smokers). The studio is 9’2” (2.8m) high.
The studio is light and airy, with mirrors along the wall opposite the big windows, which look out over a private yard and across to a small private school's playground. There is no blackout.
And again. The studio has ballet barres fixed to most walls, and we store extra mobile ballet barres. The floor is surfaced, wall-to-wall with Harlequin Allegro flooring (newly-laid in Summer 2010) over sprung wood.
From the other wall, looking into the Storage Room and along to the sound system and fire exit. In the Storage Room, we store fitness mats, theatre props, conference equipment, fold-up tables and 20 chairs. We no longer have a piano.
